Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actor and producer. She is gaining recognition for her exceptional performances in films including Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The actress won numerous awards, including an Oscar for the film Piano. The path to acting began with Broadway through a myriad of Broadway and Off Broadway projects. She has always had an interest in acting since she was in high school. Her debut role in a production in fifth grade was in Helen Keller. Following a bout of mumps, she went deaf in one of the sides of her ear. However, this was not enough to stop her desire to become an actor. At college, she was a theatre student and then moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. In a chance encounter she became stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. She landed one in the role of an actress playing the leading character Swing Shift. Since her time in Los Angeles she has appeared in many films, TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also her Women in Film Lucy Award.
