Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer and director. Her name has been acknowledged for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The actress won numerous awards, including an Oscar for the movie Piano. Her career began acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. In her early years, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th year show. She became deaf in one ear due to the mumps virus, however she did not allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. As a teenager She studied acting before moving into New York City. After a casual encounter, she got stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. The role she was offered came in the role of an actress playing the lead character of Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in a number of movies, television shows and movies over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
